As I wrote to you the other day, I have heard Abdul speak to our community. I have fly-specked his platform, his background and positions. When the forum was opened for individual questions Abdul was clear in his answers, no equivocation, no dancing around the questions.
Earlier in the year our local Dem party had Mallory McMorrow come to speak and answer questions. Mallory was okay but her answers felt as though she was playing to the crowd.
I have not considered Ms. Stevens for many reasons but the MOST off putting is her acceptance of AIPAC monies. Money out of politics please. On a personal note, being endorsed by Chuck Schumer is lethal. Mr. Schumer is the old school politician.
We need progressive leadership. To me personally, Abdul El-Sayed is the senator Michigan needs.
P.S. In 2025 the first 50/50 rally was held across the nation. Abdul was at the rally and spoke. His brief speech was on target and inspiring.
I only recently started hearing about him. And so far everything is exactly what I want to hear. It's what we need to continue with the momentum that began in NYC. It will get the younger voters out and engaged, which is pivitol in getting the geriatric politicians and their policies out of DC. I am eager to hear more and spread the word.
Thanks for that comprehensive statement about El-Sayed. I like a "warts and all" look at candidates, and you gave us that. I'd vote for him if I could - his values align with mine all the way. And I'm an 80-something-year-old woman, a native of and living in S.C.
I am loving the progressive movement! Politics as it's been done is old news and the time has come for big changes! My family is in Michigan, I will most definitely be sharing this piece with them! Go Abdul El-Sayed!
As a Michigan voter, this race has me worried but I really like El-Sayed and at this time, he has it. The status quo isn’t working and Roger’s is washed up too. It’s time for change.
I don’t vote in Michigan, but I’d sure back him if I could. I think we need more progressives. I think we need fewer establishment centrists. We need public servants who take the title seriously.
Michigan voter here. I’ve heard Abdul speak several times and agree with most of what he is for.
The fact that we are the only developed country that doesn’t have universal healthcare is shameful. As is the fact that we have so many families needing food assistance and SNAP benefits - and then we cut those. I’m glad he has not said that we should totally abolish ICE or the police because I think there are situations where police are needed and our borders need some form of monitoring for national integrity. I favor Abdul’s positions on all these issues
For me, the question comes down to - and I’ll never know the answer to this, until after the election - how racist is Michigan? Can someone with a name like his actually win?
I know what happened in New York City. We’re not the same as New York City. We have huge rural areas that are pretty uniformly, white and conservative.
The main thing is to defeat Mike Rogers. I lean toward and have donated to Abdul. Do I vote my heart or my political anxiety?
A balanced and informative profile. I live in Australia and hadn’t heard of him. May he go well and prosper (well, he clearly already is) I mean, politically. Thanks Slade.

He's an impressive candidate and an impressive human being.
I agree with all Abdul stands for. Your article is making me think about who can beat the Republican.
My heart wants Abdul but my brain is conflicted. That's where I am for now. I live in Michigan.
Momdani won against the odds and is doing what he promised. Vote your heart
look its the karen mafia working for aipac bye

I personally love him!! He’s the best candidate running. I will absolutely be voting for him!!

I wish he and his family would move to Virginia so I could vote for him in any election!
This is SO very helpful. Thank you!!

I want to support him as he truly aligns with who I want representing me. But can he beat Rogers!
Bernie won the primary against Hillary in Michigan. There are lots of yard signs for Abdul even here in Betsy DeVos’ home, Ottawa County, Mi.
He has my vote.

I reviewed over 100 candidates running for Senate for the Democracy Investment Guide. El-Sayed is the #1 recommendation.
