These precious children shouldn't have to carry the weight of adults' bad behavior and decisions on their slim shoulders. This SCOTUS majority has much to be ashamed of.

Yes, our kids deserve better.

Thank you for the clarity on this decision.

Much appreciated, Elizabeth.

Thanks for clarifying that this decision is not all bad as the headline suggests.

It emboldens the fascists, but there is always hope.

There is. At least SCOTUS left the status quo of letting the states decide instead of declaring a ban accross the country. We can fix this issue, even in the states where there are currently bans, once we vote in enough Dems and liberal independents to have a majority in Congress. I thank my the stars I live in NY where we respect and support those who deviate from the "norm".

I’m all for school sports serving the purpose of teaching sportsmanship rather than for grasping at cash for scholarships. Teaching our children to be teammates and helping them grow stronger rather than being opponents ranks high on any justification for having sports programs at school.

Also, teaching them to be gracious losers so they understand there are winners and losers in any competion or negotiation in life and that losing is not a character flaw but a learning experience to help one understand what works and what doesn't and to choose better strategies more to inclined to lead to a win in the next battle.

I love all your posts and look forward to them. I truly believe in every single person’s right to be treated with equal dignity. But in this issue specifically I have some concerns. And I extend them with the utmost respect because it is really hard to know what someone else is going through. I have a son who is not accepted at school because he is different and it is really hard to see. But when you legislate, you have to legislate for the majority, not for the exception. How can you really know that the transgender girl didn’t go through any puberty so she has no physical advantage in competitive sports like swimming or running where tenths of seconds matter and can mean a scholarship or not? How can you assure that the your daughter would be safe competing against the other transgender girl in a contact sport like martial arts, boxing or any contact sport? These are real issues. There has to be a middle ground.

How does anyone even KNOW that a kid is transgender…??

In a classic case of even a stopped clock is right twice a day, the Supreme Court finally did the right thing for once. It protected women and girls from the predations of delusional men and boys.

Why do you prioritize the genderfeelz of men over the rights, safety, and dignity of girls and women??
