Mental Health awareness. Thanks for the good ideas Slade. I’ll make the Bacon Jam Scrambled Eggs for my grandchildren, who are already or almost teenagers. 😋

Love that, thank you! Let me know if they like it, please!

Kids require us to also check in. Whether they will admit it us or not - they like knowing we care enough to at least ask.

One thing I can't emphasize enough one meal a day as a family. No phones and no television. The 20 minutes is something even my 30 year old daughter started with her own kids when they were small. I'm glad as they are in middle school and hitting high school she still insists every bit as much as I did.

She told me not too long ago she was the only kid in her school she knew of that had that rule. But that she knew others wished their families had that rule. Maybe that is why we had extra plates a lot at the table and a lot of kids call me Mom and her Dad their other Dad. We wouldn't of had it any other way.

This corroborates what I’ve seen when talking with middle school students.

Youth working on civics projects in nearby Lexington, Ky chose a topic of interest to them. About 25% chose mental health issues of kids their age.

Cyber bullying and young people just spending too much time online we’re issues they focused on.

They had to research the issue they chose. Their class went to a city hall meeting to obtain some basic understanding of how government agencies might help. They offered some options for solutions

This sounds like a worthwhile project!

The studeants were all engaged in their personal issue. Homelessness, food in security, adopting pets, drug use were some other concerns. Obviously these were issues that touched them personally.

Several of us are hoping to create something similar in our community. More info @ civiclex.org
